Planning a pregnancy can bring many questions, and everyone’s path looks different. At The Bright Side Family Acupuncture, we offer acupuncture appointments for women and their partners who are preparing for pregnancy, whether naturally or with assisted reproductive treatment such as IVF or IUI.

Your first appointment

We begin with a conversation about your health history, your menstrual cycle, your lifestyle and where you are in your fertility journey. If you are working with a GP, fertility specialist or clinic, we encourage you to share your treatment schedule so appointments can fit around it. 

Acupuncture alongside assisted fertility treatment
Many people choose to have acupuncture while they are having IVF. Appointments can be scheduled around the stages of your cycle, and we will always work within the plan set by your fertility specialist.

Partners are welcome
Preconception health involves both partners. Partners are welcome to book their own individual appointment, where care is tailored to their health and goals.

Working with your healthcare team
Acupuncture is offered alongside the care of your GP or fertility specialist. 

Frequently asked questions

.What happens at a fertility acupuncture appointment?
After a discussion about your health and goals, we will work out a treatment plan. During the acupuncture treatments, fine acupuncture needles are placed at selected points and left in place for a period of time while you rest. We may also discuss general lifestyle topics such as sleep and stress. Sessions are tailored to you.

Can I have acupuncture during IVF?
Many people choose to have acupuncture during their IVF journey. Please share with us your treatment dates and medications, and tell your fertility clinic that you are having acupuncture.

How many appointments will I need?
This varies from person to person. We will talk about a schedule that suits you and come up with a treatment plan at your first visit.
